Rob Oates, Vice President of Biometrics, Borders and Transportation Security at GDIT

Rob Oates is the Vice President of Biometrics, Borders, and Transportation Security for General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) within the Intelligence and Homeland Security Division. In this role, he is responsible for the successful execution and growth of GDIT’s Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM) programs. During his tenure with GDIT he has lead portfolios including DHS Headquarters, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and others.

Rob has led mission-critical programs covering more than 180 U.S. and international locations including forward deployed resources. His experience spans the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, and Federal Civilian agencies. He is an experienced technical leader having managed centralized and geographically dispersed architecture and engineering teams to design and deliver complex solutions to meet mission objectives. He has successfully delivered a diverse spectrum of services and solutions, including numerous enterprise level systems, innovations in mission platforms, SecDevOps transformations, waterfall to SAFe transitions, Hybrid Multi Cloud, Cybersecurity, architecture, and governance.

Rob began his career in the United States Air Force. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University’s Harbert College of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from Liberty University.
