Mr. Brian Campo serves as the Deputy Chief Technology Officer and Deputy Executive Director of the Chief Technology Officer Directorate (CTO) for the DHS Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).
As Deputy CTO, Mr. Campo is responsible for providing the technical authority for the enterprise, managing assessment and enablement of identification and fielding of the Department’s enterprise technical capabilities. His division works with programs throughout the engineering lifecycle, aligning mission needs with technology to deliver solutions that optimize the Department’s ability to protect the homeland.
Prior to joining DHS, Mr. Campo spent 10 years in the commercial sector supporting the U.S. Department of Defense and federal agencies with technology adoption. Throughout his career, he has managed the modernization of major programs across the federal government, driving strategic alignment of governance, policy, and technical delivery to create better mission outcomes. He has focused on leading the development of enterprise capabilities through effective stakeholder engagement, fielding technical solutions, and transformational use of emerging technologies.
Mr. Campo has also served as the vice president of technology solutions for Sabre Systems, where he oversaw technical delivery of services and solutions across federal and commercial customers including Naval Air Systems Command, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, U.S. Department of Commerce, Comcast, and intelligence agencies. He managed the Navy Enterprise Data Center consolidation and transformation and increased information sharing and collaboration between the U.S. and its allies through the Multi-National Information Sharing service. He also optimized the delivery of support and benefits to veterans through the Veterans Administration’s Veterans Benefit Management System. He developed a metrics-based system to evaluate the performance of major defense acquisition programs through the Defense Acquisition Visibility Environment for the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics.
Mr. Campo is a native of York, Pennsylvania. He previously served as a federal civilian with the Naval Safety Center and on active duty as a naval nuclear engineer in the Navy’s submarine force. He graduated from the Naval Nuclear Power School majoring in mechanical engineering. He holds certifications in program management, engineering, and information technology from the Defense Acquisition University DAWIA. His industry certifications include Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile certified professional, and ICAgile certified professional.
